Block all international spam in Vista Mail
Many people who own office 2007 are using outlook as thier e-mail client. If you are using outlook then this guide can not helo eliminate your spam. You will need an actual spam fillter like Spam Bully. For those that are using Vista mail you can block all international spam which is about ahlf the spam you get each day.
If you have friends that live over seas you will have to manually add them to your safe list if you use this option. I personally only have a few friend living over seas so this does not affect me. If you take a look at the spam mail you get you will see that about half of it is from international domains. By blocking all international domains you will eliminate tons of spam.
first open Windows Mail and go to the Tools \ Junk Mail Options item. Click the International tab, and then select "blocked top level Domain List"
A new box will pop-up. hit the "Select All" option. Now you will want to scroll through the list and uncheck the .us domain. .us is for the united states. You can leave this checked but it is not international. You may also want to consider unchecking .uk as that is the United Kingdom. .CA is Canada and some may want to keep that as well. That's it for this one.
You can also choose to block message encodings. This option is good for blocking items in other languages. If you only speak english or only expect english e-mails then you might s well open that up and eliminate the languges you will not be using. I do have some Chinese messages that come my way so I did leave that open. It's unfortunate because this would cut down on spam by another 10%
If you do not want to follow this guide or justwant to block al spma I would go with Spam bully. It works for Vista Mail, outlook and outlook express. Be sure to downlaod the (4.1.1.3) version if you use Vista Mail client.
