How to Delete Personal Antivirus
Just an FYI; Spyware Doctor with Antivirus does work to remove this. We tested it out.
Jumping right in.
First you will need to find out what the current process is that’s starting up Personal Antivirus. In our case it was PAV.exe. To find out you just have to right click on the desktop icon and select properties. From there you will see the full path of the file as well as the Executable. Now re-name the executable file.
For instance if that name was PAV.exe. Name is asdf.exe . Now re-boot your computer.
Once booted go to were the old file location was for the PAV.exe. In our case it was %Program Files%Personal-AV\ . Many people will have a different place but that is were the whole right click thing on the icon comes into play. That told you were the file was.
Now delete the whole folder. You should now be able to run a full scan using whatever security software you have. You NEED a security client in order to remove all the traces. Only an uber geek will be able to re-set all the registry defaults and registry keeps back to were they need to be. If you do not have a security client then consider Spyware Doctor with Antivirus. It’s what I use and it is known to work against this threat. If you are a cheap person and don’t mind getting infected again with a virus down the road then you can go with a free scanner. Just don’t blaim me when you get infected again.
It really is that simple. Almost all security clients out there are going to be able to pick up the main traces of this program. The problem most have is being able to run a security scan.
