Consider the advantages and limitations of each, and then choose the one that you think is going to be best suited to you.

Remember that deciding what to backup on your computer is really a very personal process, and anything that cannot be replaced should be at the very top of your list. This could include anything from writing for your work to photographs of your children, and this will also help by giving you a reference list in case you ever do need to retrieve a backed up file.

Next in the process of learning how to backup a computer calls for what method you will use to backup your data.  You can always just select the files you want to bakup and then manually copy them over to your backup media.  The best way is to use a program like Acronis because with that software you can just schedule a backup and it will auto backup your data and even your entire system if you want with just a few short clicks. There are other methods for doing this but this is the best way because then if you are not near your computer at the right time or you forget to back it up, it will do it all on its own.

This saves you a lot of time and hassle, which is important because you probably have enough on your plate already and do not need to be worrying about anything else.
