Windows has blocked some startup programs
When you start a Windows Vista-based computer, you receive the following Windows vista warning message in the notification area at the far right of the taskbar:
Windows has blocked some startup programs.
Windows blocks programs that require permission to run when Windows starts. Click to view blocked programs. You can view the blocked programs by clicking the “Blocked startup programs” Icon then selecting the “Run Blocked Program” menu
CAUSE
This issue occurs because a program or a service that has User Account Control (UAC) restrictions tries to start during the Windows Vista startup process or logon process. To simplify these processes, Software Explorer blocks programs or services that require UAC confirmation from running.
Here is what you can do to stop getting the message.
You have one of 2 choices. Allow the program or disallow the program.
If you want to allow the program then click the “Blocked startup programs” Icon then select the “Run Blocked Program” menu. Select the programs you want to start. You may need to type in your username and password then select continue.
If you want to block the program just do the same thing but select Disable then YES in the confirmation box.
If you can not remove the software in the “Programs and Features” menu then use “Software Explorer”. To do this click the windows start button then type appwix.cpl in the start search box and hit enter. Click the programs features list and then uninstall/change. Click the “blocked startup programs” and then click “show or remove blocked startup programs”. Select the service or program you would like to remove and then click “Remove” |
